Introduction to straight seam steel pipes and precautions for using straight seam steel pipes

Straight seam steel pipes do not refer to a certain type of steel pipe, but a large category of welded pipes. They are made of steel strips. Steel pipes made using straight seam high-frequency welding equipment can be called straight seam steel pipes. To put it simply, when welding steel plates, steel pipes with welds on the same straight line can be called straight seam steel pipes.

According to different uses and subsequent production processes, it can be roughly divided into scaffolding pipes, fluid pipes, wire casings, support pipes, and guardrail pipes. Low-pressure fluid welded pipes are a type of straight seam welded pipes. After welding, another water pressure test is performed on water and gas delivery, so the price of low-pressure fluid pipes is usually higher than that of ordinary longitudinal welded pipes, such as 1-inch (DN25) (i.e. 33.5 * 3.25) fusion steel pipe fluid. Fusion steel pipes are also called welded pipes. After bending, they are welded with steel plates or steel strips. According to the weld form, they can be divided into straight seam welded pipes and spiral welded pipes. According to the application, they can be divided into ordinary welded pipes, galvanized welded pipes and oxygen-blown welded pipes, wire casings, transformer pipes, thin-walled pipe welding, special-shaped pipe welding, and spiral welded pipes.

General welded pipes: This type of welded pipe is mainly used to transport low-pressure liquids or fluids. Of course, in addition to these types of steel, some easy-to-weld steels can be used to make general welded pipes. There are some requirements for surface quality. This type of steel pipe must undergo water pressure, bending, flattening, and other tests.

A double-sided submerged arc straight seam steel pipe is also a straight seam steel pipe. Submerged arc welding steel pipe adopts the JCOE cold forming process, welding wire is used for welding seam, and granular flux is used for submerged arc welding. The main production process of submerged arc welding straight seam steel pipe is flexible and can produce any specifications. The wall thickness is 325~1420 mm, which can meet the customer’s requirements for steel pipe size. Domestic standard production usually adopts high-frequency straight seam steel pipe, which is usually called original steel pipe. The name of this industry is different from submerged arc welding straight seam steel pipe or thermal expansion high-frequency straight seam steel pipe, and their names are often confused.

Precautions in the use of straight seam steel pipe
The installation and use of straight seam steel pipe have strict process requirements, which need to be carried out according to actual conditions and operating procedures to ensure quality. The construction preparation before the use of straight seam steel pipe, to dig the trench and complete the pipe well masonry, needs to install straight seam steel pipe, including an electric welder, cutting machine, electric hammer, and polishing machine, the equipment is ready before installation.

The installation of straight seam steel pipes, positioning the pipelines according to the design drawings, prefabricating the pipe racks according to the site conditions, and then cutting the materials according to the design and site, grinding the grooves with a polishing machine, and then welding.

Quality requirements for use: branch pipes should not be welded at the welds, avoid welding at the bends, the deviation per meter of vertical installation should be less than 3 mm, the deviation per meter of horizontal installation should be less than 1 mm, the welds should be straight and full, and there should be no burn-through and cracks on the weld surface.
