Why is the surface of 304 stainless steel plate rough after deep drawing

After 304 stainless steel plate is stretched and formed, its surface sometimes appears rough, which is called the orange peel phenomenon. As the name implies, the surface texture is like orange peel, and it feels a bit rough to the touch. This is different from the smooth surface of the 304 stainless steel plate that we often see.

The first factor: During the processing, the grinding of 304 stainless steel plates is not sufficient. The orange peel phenomenon should be avoided by sufficient grinding.

The second factor: During the processing, the more processing techniques and the greater the force, the more serious the orange peel phenomenon on the surface of 304 stainless steel plate. The 304 stainless steel plate should be deeply processed and fully ground to avoid the orange peel phenomenon on the surface of the 304 stainless steel plate again.

The third factor: The heat treatment softening of 304 stainless steel plate and the coarse grains of 304 stainless steel raw materials will also cause the orange peel phenomenon on the surface. Regarding the heat treatment softening of 304 stainless steel plate, we can avoid the orange peel phenomenon on the surface by performing appropriate heat treatment on 304 stainless steel plate. If it is due to the coarse grains of the 304 stainless steel raw materials, its grain size must be properly controlled to avoid the orange peel phenomenon of the 304 stainless steel plate from the source.
